About Joe
My entire life has been spent making music. I have taught guitar & bass (acoustic & electric) since high school, teaching all styles and age groups. I read and write music proficiently in treble and bass clefs but also play by ear and write songs. I have coached students that have had a desire to sing while playing an instrument. I'm an active musician that has played in clubs and restaurants as well as numerous other venues for the past 30 years. I have referred students to Berklee College of Music. I have studied privately with some of the best guitar instructors in Connecticut - Sal Salvador (Stamford), Linc Chamberlin (Norwalk) and Guy Smith (Bridgeport). I am a life-long musician, full-time, guitar & bass player, performer, vocalist, band leader, lutherie and guitar collector.
Accomplishments / Recognizable Credits
"John Mayer" - Credited on John's 1st recording from his high school band (Villanova Junction). My band "Off The Hook" played at his 10th year high school reunion at Bravo's in Fairfield.
"Charlie Daniels Talent Round-up" - Appeared on National Television (TNN) with my band "Fox Fire" in a talent competition in 1995 with Charlie hosting.
"Richie Havens (of the original Woodstock fame)" - Warmed up for Richie with my band "Fox Fire" in the 90s @ Tom Sawyer's in Newtown.
"The Bandits" - Formed a band of elementary school students that became well known throughout Connecticut - They performed at Lake Compounce, The Norwalk Oyster Festival, Cablevision Fairfield Exchange as well as many local restaurants, schools, and talent shows.
"Principle of Newtown School System" (Donna Denniston) - Received a very positive and personal hand written letter commending my teaching abilities - "Natural, talented, positive, structured, and patient" were terms used in this letter.
"VP of IBM" - Within three months developed an adult female student (an IBM VP) to be able to perform (guitar and vocals) in front of 600+ attendees at IBM conventions (NYC & South Beach Miami)
"Charter Communications Showcase" - Featured in a 1/2 hour TV documentary showcasing my teaching ability, repair expertise and my guitar collection.
